Musings From a Health Coach
I'm having a conversation I started with a student had just last week. A 30 year old woman, call her Joe, to be trainers for health training program, not to become a health coach, but easy to learn how to live a healthier life. However, as she was moved by Joe program a bit 'more open to the idea of signing Health Coaching and has a client recently. Unfortunately, only a few days after the client reconsider signing the so-called client-Joe to say it was the health coaching program for financial reasons. So Joe began to doubt, like every new coach would be healthy after a customer cancel their program with the prices of tenders, as a health coach.
During our call last week Joe got me started asking questions like: "??? What I'm providing for the customer Why is precious is really something of value, they offer me, when nothing physical that they get from me"
Of course there can be many reasons for someone to work with a health coach before their program began, it assured. When a customer support because of finances, having already committed to the program could be a reason that they do not know or understand anything that can provide a health coach available for them. They understand that, in theory, but do not really feel it, and cannot imagine how great it could be. I want to focus on this potential situation mainly because it is easy to avoid with a little 'practice.
The average person has forgotten how it feels to be a health professional who completely on a significant amount of time to spend on them. They have forgotten that someone can be physically, mentally and emotionally focused on for more than 5 minutes! When a health coach sitting with a low client, the phone turns off, there is no TV in sight, and the door is closed. No one is leaving or coming. Health coach and client face each other sitting in comfortable chairs with a notebook and a glass of water, and to talk to them. It works through the challenges that the interruption of a healthy balanced lifestyle, and create solutions, so that the customer can get on with his goals and dreams. Even if the potential customer is not understood, sometimes still he cannot see the benefit because she had never done this for someone.
All is said, there is a solution!
It just takes more effort to help your potential customers to see what you can do for them.
I know that two "tricks" specifications that you can use to overcome this challenge Health Coaching, and I think that, as you read, your faith in the value of your service to be confirmed.
First, you need to optimize your first meeting with the potential client. There are two steps that take place during a first consultation, which I think is essential. The first step is their challenges and / or health goals summarize take their medical history.
This step helps to establish trust between client and coach and to remember how it feels to have someone who listens and who actually listen.
Then, immediately after summarizes their challenges and / or specific health goals, put the magic question. This question is: "How do you want to achieve my support to these health goals (or to overcome these health challenges)?"
Sometimes we do not know how to answer this question. You can, showing them examples of how it could, as the media to talk about the issue with them, take them shopping her private cooking classes to give the resolution of the problems, if they cannot understand how greener to meet their diet organize their pantry, so that instructions on nutrition, etc.
The point is that they need to verbalize how you want to support them achieve their health goals and you need to confirm that this is what you can do and want.
Do not forget to give them some examples of what you do together, ask if they have special needs, and take notes!
My second thought on how a potential customer looking to help the value of your service is less precise, but more importantly. It has to do with the confidence level.
In order for a person who you trust want with their future, they need to respect. It borders the point of them require you to idolize. You have to want what you have. It is a very subtle feeling, instinctive and probably unconscious receiving about you based on your feelings about yourself. Sometimes you cannot control, but most of the time you can.
One way to improve self-confidence and your service is to practice talking to people. Practice asking those questions and try to get them to talk about their personal lives. They do not know what you're doing, and you will be very smart for someone comfortable with opening up to you and always say the right attitude: "Yes!" to work with you.
I think if you set start these proposals into practice, you will begin to believe that the work that you are doing precious, as well as your potential customers.
